MTB tires
About the roughing trails
To handle the rugged mountain biker or ATB driver, special mountain bike tires have been developed. MTB tires are generally made of firmer and thicker rubber than regular bicycle tires. This way you are better protected against punctures, even on uneven terrain. For better grip, extra attention is paid to the profile of the tire in mountain bike tires and ATB tires.

As little as possible rolling resistance
The deeper the profile, the better the grip. Of course, all manufacturers try to combine this advantage with as little rolling resistance as possible. At Frank you will find all types of tire for the MTB, varying in size, color, and type of anti-puncture protection. With Frank you can go for tires from established names like Schwalbe, Cordo, Continental or Maxxis. With the menu filters on the left side you will find the tire that fits your needs within no time.
Tubeless?
In some cases it is advisable to purchase a tubeless tire. A tubeless tire is designed so that it can be used without an inner tube, because the tire and the rim are constructed in such a way that they close each other. The idea comes from the mountain bike world, where in the 'downhill discipline' the inner tube often got stuck between the rim and the tire. To prevent such a 'snakebite-leak' the tubeless tire has been developed.
Tubeless system offers a solution
On uneven terrain, a tubeless system offers a great deal of benefit. Tubeless tires can be driven with lower tire pressures and thus offer lower rolling resistance and good grip on the terrain. On a flat road, higher tire pressure is cheaper and tubeless tires are unsuitable: the current system, as used with the MTB, is not suitable for high pressure. If the tire pressure is higher than 4 bar, the tire could jump off the rim. In addition, the assembly of tubeless tires is somewhat less simple than the assembly of traditional tires.
