With the launch of this new CPC Deluxe HD series, Celestron has set a new standard when it comes to advanced technology and accuracy, developing a telescope suitable for the most fanatic astronomer. The Celestron CPC Deluxe 800 Computerized Telescope is equipped with a very solid double-armed tripod and equipped with a GoTo system. This GoTo system is easy to handle and highly accurate, due to the GPS module and SkyAlign technology.
SkyAlign is a technology patented by Celestron which enables you to easily align the GoTo module of the altazimuth mount. If you use a less advanced GoTo system, you have to locate and identify three stars yourself first, before the GoTo module can start aligning the telescope. With the Celestron SkyAlign system however, aligning will get a lot easier. The only thing you need to do is to point the telescope to three bright celestial objects. You don’t even need to know the names of the stars and you may even pick the moon or bright planets. Due to its vast knowledge of celestial bodies, the SkyAlign system will then be able to pinpoint the position of every star, planet and other celestial object.
Built-in GPS Module
To make the alignment of the telescope even more easy, the CPC Deluxe HD series is, like the standard CPC series, equipped with a GPS module. The internal 16-channel GPS receiver automatically downloads the date and time from orbiting satellites and determines the exact location on Earth with great accuracy. The accuracy provided by both the SkyAlign as the GPS system, will be of great benefit to your observations or astrophotography activities.
CPC 800 or CPC Deluxe?
Over the past several years, the Celestron CPC 800 Computerized telescope has been one of the most popular telescopes for semiprofessional and professional use. However, the new Celestron CPC Deluxe 800 has some great advantages compared to to its predecessor. These advantages will undoubtedly appeal to the more demanding astronomer. For example, the optics of the CPC Deluxe 800 HD are of a much higher level due to the EdgeHD optics and SCHOTT Glass Technology. These features will be explained below.
Edge HD optics
Contrary to the standard CPC series by Celestron, the CPC Deluxe series is provided with EdgeHD Optics. But what exactly is EdgeHD? EdgeHD is a type of optical design. Celestron developed this type of optics for a select number of Schmidt Cassegrain telescopes, in order to successfully reduce chromatic aberration. Therefore, you will be provided with sharp, clear and true-colour images.
Another principal advantage of EdgeHD is the fact that this type of technology makes the telescope fully coma-free. Also in comparison with other telescopes which are claimed to be coma-free, the difference will be notable when it comes to quality. This holds especially true for high magnification factors and for long exposure times needed for astrophotography. Coma is an optical defect which makes stars look wedge-shaped or triangular on the edges of your field of view. Coma especially occurs when you’re working with high magnification factors. SCHOTT Glass is a manufacturer of optical glass, now part of the Carl Zeiss Foundation. Optical glass from SCHOTT is well known for its stringent quality control procedures, resulting in high levels of product quality.
